Now that it has been laid for 6 months my new laminate flooring has started this creaking popping sound as you walk throughout the house. It almost seems as if the joins are flexing and causing the sound. Installed a new laminate floor about 3 weeks ago and ever since it s been laid when i walk across it i hear a cracking sound in spots. If your wood floor is already down this might mean you have to pull up the section that squeaks to repair the subfloor and then put down a new section of flooring.

I think what happens is that the tongue and groove part gets tight in the more humid weather and when you step on the right area one plank slips just a little bit against the next one and causes that bubble wrap sound. Everything was laid as required by mfg. I did leave the proper gap at the walls. Laminate flooring is wonderful stuff and many people love it not only for its appearance but its durability and ease of maintenance as well.

Squeaks are annoying in any floor and when the floor covering is hardwood or carpet you have several options for eliminating them while keeping the. Is there something i can do to fix the sound or do i need to tear the floor out. Mainly in the hallway. My best guess is the popping sounds are coming from the joints.

The snapping sounds are almost always traced to an uneven subfloor.
